Q: What is the difference between the PVC, Softcover and Larger Illustrated editions of the Sasol Birds of Southern Africa 5th edition book?
A: All editions contain the same content but are different in size. Softcover and PVC are 210 x 148 mm, but the PVC comes with a protective plastic cover, which is removable. The Larger Illustrated edition is approximately 17% bigger, which means that distribution maps and illustrations are a bit larger.
Q: Does the Sasol Checklist to Birds of South Africa come with the book?

A: Struik Nature Call App is the free companion app to the Sasol Birds of Southern Africa 5th edition print book. It allows you to scan the barcodes in the book to play the bird calls.
Sasol eBirds Southern Africa is a paid app product. It includes all the content from the 5th edition print book, as well as bird calls, photographs and smart search and life list features.
Q: What is the price of the new Sasol eBirds Southern Africa app?
A: The app is R379.99 on the App Store and Google Play. The app price may change over time.
Q: Can I update the old app to get the new app?
A: Due to the magnitude of the upgrade, the latest Sasol eBirds Southern Africa app is a new and separate product and you will need to purchase it separately.
Q: I accidentally deleted the app from my device. How do I reinstall it?
A: Any purchase you make from the app stores are linked to your App Store account, and you can download them as follows:
Apple: Open the App Store on your device. Tap on your profile at the top right. This will bring up a window called Account, showing your name, email address and other information. Tap on Purchased, then tap on Not on this iPad/iPhone. Find the app in this list and tap the download button next to it (the button looks like a Cloud with an arrow pointing downwards).
Android: Open the Google Play app on your device. Tap on the menu at the top left (it looks like 3 horizontal lines). Tap on My apps and games, then on Library (this is one of the options at the top of the screen). Find the app in this list and tap the install button next to it.
Q: I just purchased a new device. How do I transfer the app onto it?
A: If both your devices have the same app store (i.e. both Apple or Google Play), then you can download the app onto both devices as below. If you switch from Apple to Android or vice versa, you will need to repurchase the app.
